- Port: Enter 9050.
- For “Type”, choose Socks5 (if it’s not already specified).
- Authentication: Do not enable authentication (leave username/password blank) for the free proxy. In CuteFTP Pro’s interface, you would ensure “Use Authentication” is unchecked, since Anyone.io’s basic proxy doesn’t require a login.
- After adding, you should see the proxy listed (highlight it if needed to mark it active).
Click OK to save the proxy settings. Now, when you connect to any FTP server using CuteFTP, it will utilize the configured SOCKS5 proxy. If you connect to a site profile, ensure that profile is set to use the global proxy settings (by default it should unless overridden). Once connected, your FTP interactions (listing directories, uploading/downloading files) will be carried out through the Anyone.io network.
Configuring a proxy in CuteFTP provides significant privacy and circumvention benefits. For one, your FTP server connections will appear to come from the proxy server (the Anyone.io network), not directly from your computer.
